Great those are my selfies. Now vent time.

So school has been on another level of crazy lately. CUNY is stupid so they waited until this week to give us our spring break which means that we just had basically four straight months of non-stop work. I'm pretty sure everyone was being driven nuts. This week I was basically on the verge of tears all week long. Until Thursday evening, anyway. Stress really has gotten to me. I didn't post at all this week because I literally was not home at all. I think I got an average of 4 hours of sleep per night and I am basically ready to pass out right now. At 8:59 pm.

I haven't exercised since like…2 weeks ago. So I'm gonna start over. Tomorrow. I have been stress eating like crazy and I feel super fat and gross and I just want to not feel like this anymore. So tomorrow I will work out. I will re-do my workout schedule and make it so it coincides with my school/work schedule. So that way I won't have excuses to not work out.

Side note: I got so burnt this weekend. My shoulders are almost purple. It's awful.

Anyway, I also forgot my notebook at my apartment in Brooklyn and I won't be there for like two weeks. So this Friday instead of writing a babysitting anecdote, I am going to write a post talking about how I became an in-demand babysitter and why I keep jobs and keep getting offered new jobs. Just in case you were curious.

Ok. Thats it.

Selfie Saturday #3

Hello buddies! I haven't slept in a full 24 hours and I am a little wild right now. Pitch Perfect is on HBO and I am pleased. I uploaded my selfies and now its time for the selfie blog post of the week. So here we go. This week was more interesting than last week.
It's Monday. It's pouring. Unhappy.

No one dresses like this when it's raining. I look like a 15 year old boy. Cool.

Running and it's nice out! Yay!

All I do is babysit late night.

At least working late means I can watch Jimmy Fallon in real time!

Reading out loud. Thats what I get paid to do.

Adventures in Babysitting-Frozen Edition

Since the movie "Frozen" came out, winning children over has become a piece of cake. I have the soundtrack on my phone and any time I am babysitting I just whip out that music and pretty soon its all singing and dancing. Every child is obsessed with it. I saw a 6 year old girl scootering down east 74th street the other day like a bat out of hell literally SCREAMING the words to "Let it Go." I have a couple of stories that involve Frozen.

*disclaimer: I don't actually babysit the children of celebrities. I just use their names.*

- I can thank "Frozen" for my job babysitting Blue Ivy Carter. I was at a rehearsal for my mothers show and one of women in the show brought her 2 year old with her to the rehearsal. I have known this woman since I was nine years old and I feel like people that have known you since you were a kid always think you are a kid and have difficulty trusting you as an adult. So anyway I went right up to Blue Ivy and said "Hi Blue Ivy, I'm Alice. How old are you? Are you two? Are you ten?" and she giggled and held up three fingers. Then I said "I used to be three. Do you like 'Frozen?'" And she nodded her head. We went out to the hallway to the rehearsal piano and I started playing "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?" and she yelled "snowman!" and we were best friends. I played "Let it Go." We sang together. Apparently she was asking about me the next day.
Now Blue Ivy is one of my regulars. Or at least on the way to becoming one. We still sing Frozen. Last week she dressed up as Elsa and for her bedtime songs asked for one Elsa and one Anna song. My being well versed in the songs from "Frozen" has been very helpful.

- Next story. I was babysitting little 3 year old Pax Jolie-Pitt and we had listened to the "Frozen" soundtrack three times in a row while doing other activities. After the third time I said to him "Ok I'm gonna turn it off now!" and he got really close to my face and whispered very slowly to me, "Let it go. One. More. Time." Obviously I turned it on.

Workout Challenge Update

Hello everyone! All ten of you that probably actually read this.

I'm really glad I chose to blog about those workout challenges that I'm doing. Mostly because it has actually motivated me to do them every day. I hate lying and would be really disappointed in myself if I had to tell you all that I didn't do some of the stuff I was supposed to. And I would be even more disappointed in myself if I told you that I did do everything but in reality I didn't.

So technically I have finished week one of my legs/arms/abs workouts AND week one of my couch-5k challenge. That's only because I don't have to run on Wednesdays or Thursdays. I'm sitting on my couch sweating a bunch because I just got back from running on this absolutely sparkling day and my sister the athlete tells me that you have to stop sweating before you take a shower, otherwise you will just keep sweating. I feel really good. Last night I walked into my apartment and complained to my roommates that I had been doing this for almost a week, plus spending some time in the on-campus gym doing other types of cardio, and I didn't see or feel results yet. I wanted this to work faster, even though I know that it takes awhile for the progress to actually show. Well, this morning I woke up and just felt kind of awesome. I did my arms and abs (today I got a break from squats) and ran and I feel thinner. I don't want to use a scale because I know how I want to feel, and it's not about the numbers. It's about how I look in clothes. How I feel about myself when I'm naked. How I think about myself in general. So far, all of those things are going in an upwards direction for me. I have more energy. I don't want to sit and binge watch Netflix the way I have in the past (except this past weekend I totally finished House of Cards. OMG). I would much rather be outside or be moving in some way. Or even reading a book. Making my mind work. So that's a cool thing.

I also bought a groupon (which is now sold out) to participate in the Epic Fail Challenge. It's a 5k in Brooklyn to benefit St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. It's a 5 kilometer run with wacky obstacles thrown in on the way. I think there are 11 different obstacles and they all look hilarious. None of my friends were able to buy the groupon in time, so if any of you readers want to pay full price and be the best person ever, you should sign up for it and run with me. I signed up for the 10:15 time slot. It's on May 3rd which is a Saturday so you have no excuse. And you get a beer, a t-shirt, and access to their music festival after so that's totally worth the price of admission. So come with me.

Ok on to week 2! Wish me luck.
